These days smartphones have become a very important part of our lives, without which not you nor I can survive. With most people looking to buy a smartphone for around Rs15,000 and with so many phones out there in the market, it really made sense to look into this market and see what are the phones that are best in this range. For Rs 15,000 you get a choice of either taking an Android phone or a Windows Phone or maybe a dead platform like Blackberry OS. Most phones in this budget offer a screen size of 3″ to a massive 4.8/5″( From cheaper Chinese or Indian brands). If you want a good phone in 15,000 budget, I really suggest you eye on Homeshop 18 supper deals. As these days it’s really hard to get a “good” phone from a reputed brand(Sony, Samsung) under Rs15000.
Micromax A116(A.K.A Canvas HD) – Rs14,500
Micromax is a company that is flooding the Indian markets with VFM phones(and Phablets) they do offer some great specs at a very competitive price point, competing with the Galaxy grand at a much lower price!
Coming to specs this phone offers a Quad core processor from mediatek based on cortex A7 Clocked at 1.2 Ghz.

5-inch IPS LCD(1280×720 pixel)

Well no doubt the specs are good? But are you willing to compromise on the AFS(After sales service), Updates, Build quality and of course XDA Support(With a dedicated forum).
There are many people having problem with the service centers too, this phones build quality is not up to the mark and has some launcher problems and many other small problems, but if you are okay with that then this is a “okay” phone to get.
Lumia 520 – Rs10,500

The specs are pretty decent, don’t expect this phone to get Android 5, or anything. The phone might be able to run most of the apps smoothly, but not “many” thanks to the A5 processor. Now coming to the screen, it produce crisp text in other words the display is not great at all. Summing all things up this is pretty decent, but I would prefer lumia 520 over this.
Lumia 620 – Rs14,000
Nokia Lumia 620 is Lumia 520 elder brother. The smartphone is pretty good and by pricing it in the under-Rs 15,000 price bracket it offers a really good performance compared to some of the Androids out there. The Windows-powered device is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Krait dual-core processor and it runs on Win 8 os.
Now coming the specs let us see what the phone offers
Here are the key specs of the Nokia Lumia 620:
3.8-inch TFT LCD ClearBlack WVGA display
Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band
Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, EDR
GPS with A-GPS support and GLONASS
5 megapixel camera with LED flash, VGA front-facing camera
8GB internal storage, expandable up to 64GB
If you compare Lumia 620 with 520 you will see that 620 has a comparatively smaller screen compared to 520’s 4″ screen.
Well I know they are many many more Phones in this budget that I have not included in this guide, mainly because the phone lacks somewhere or the other-either is terms of buid quality, GPU, screen, older android versions etc. There are many more ‘Chinese’ phones you can get that offer similar specs like Micromax but are you willing to take the risk? Of AFS (After sales), health hazards (High SAR values : Please note most of the micromax phones also have high SAR values). So just keep these things in mind when you buy your new smartphone. Hope you guys found this guide helpful, feel free to post your thoughts and suggestions.
